Snippet Sunday: Bad Passengers

Another passage from our manuscript today; this features the point of view of one of our supporting characters, Dana, who is traveling by plane with friends from New York to St. Louis, and has a track record of bad flight experiences...

When they boarded the plane, Dana found her seat was directly behind Olivia and Rachel. She looked at the empty seat next to hers and wondered who would occupy it. Past experience says it will be the most obnoxious SOB the airline has to offer today, she thought. She'd seen the worst of the worst in her travels.
As she looked up, a short, partially bald man with a combover worse than Donald Trump’s—dressed in camo fatigues—came aboard. He spoke to the flight attendant in a high pitched, nasal voice. Bingo, Dana thought. Well, at least he's not a terrorist. But if there were terrorists on board, they’d probably kill him first.

  2. Judging someone solely on appearance can be a mistake. I would so love for him to prove her wrong.

  3. Love the Donald Trump comparison--I'm picturing a cross between him and George Costanza. Great job!

  6. Oh, lovely . . .

When terrorists are preferable to your seatmate, it's time to put on hte headphones and hit the Ambien . . .

    Great, cynical snippet! :)

  8. Maybe he is a terrorist, how can she know? But it does seem obnoxious.
