Scarlett: The Birth of a Novel

3/30/10: We're getting off to a great start. It took James half an hour (at least) to set up our joint e-mail box (for business correspondence). Then, I tried to merge the individual files we've worked on and found they wouldn't cooperate. I suspect the best route to take will be to pass material back and forth in the body of e-mails and paste everything into each of our manuscript documents.

Fun, huh? We still have a lot to learn.

So far, we're in agreement on everything. We haven't yet threatened each others' lives. No weapons have been drawn. He created Gabriel, the male protagonist, and I created Chloe, his partner in crime. We each wrote our character's backstory and introduction pages, then merged them. I'll write Chloe's cybersex seductions of Gabriel, and James will take care of Gabriel's moves on Chloe.

4/4/10: I realize I should be writing, even today, but my thoughts just keep drifting off to a divinely delicious idea I have to get my partner in the mood: an Easter egg hunt. No, not the kind of Easter egg hunts kids have. No, this would be a bit of a scavenger hunt. I would leave seductive clues in plastic Easter eggs for my oh-so-hot partner to find. Those clues would lead him to find me, wearing nothing but a blissful smile, in that bubble bath he finds so enjoyable. Add a bottle of sparkling grape juice, since James doesn't drink, a plate of chocolate covered-strawberries, and...

If I keep this up, I'll never get any writing done. Oh, James, where are you? Hopefully not with that tart Nixie! I suppose I shouldn't worry. Though a man is often drawn to the sexual banter and such, in the end, he wants a woman who not only gives him that, but challenges him creatively, understands him emotionally, and is a match for him in every way. Sorry, Nixie!

Back to Chloe and Gabriel...James and I have discussed their wedding. We're going to write the wedding scene together. James thinks we should work very closely on the vows, especially. Oh, my--it's going to be almost like planning a real wedding! I wonder if it will give him any ideas? I'd like Chloe to wear something with a sheer hood, rather than a veil. Ivory rather than white. Simple, but tasteful. I prefer outdoor weddings, but I'm not sure what James has in mind....

As for the vows, they'll have to be very personal. I suspect we'll differ on the music. I like Neil Diamond's The Story of My Life, but maybe that's the writer in me. I'm also fond of John Denver's Wedding Song, Five for Fighting's Chances or 100 Years, and Shania Twain's From This Moment On.

Since Gabriel is Irish, I'm betting James will want the wedding to take place in Ireland. And rather than a best man, will Gabriel choose a best person in the person of his agent, Olivia?

James: Where We've Come From

We're indeed off to a great start with this, and what we've written thus far has been copied and pasted together. Scarlett's running a bit behind, but I can pause now and let her catch up. For the most part (one potential scene being a possibility), my chapter one material is written, setting up Gabriel. He and Chloe are different people, working in different elements of the same industry, and even before they begin their online flirting, they'll have a moment of a near-meeting. And we've got ourselves a very fun way of bringing them into close contact without them even knowing they're so close.

As Scarlett says, I'll be writing the male POV for this, and she's writing the female POV. Still, writing them both means a whole lot of fun down the line, and when we get to the point where they're setting aside the computers and the cell phones, and coming together (pun intended)... well, let's just say that the sex is going to be explicit, graphic, and both of us are going to have a chance to write these two in that very sensual setting.

Cold showers will be in order, just so you know.

Let's see, where were we? Oh, yes, Scarlett was giving away crucial aspects of the book. Or shall we say the sequel? That's as spoilerish as I'm getting today.

On the other hand, she also managed to get me all distracted with the notion of a scavenger hunt that leads to her in a bubble bath wearing nothing but a smile. Needless to say, Scarlett knows what I like. 

A curious scene played out among my dreams (a very good dream, I'll add) with Gabriel and Chloe lying on a beach, in a secluded hidden cove. What little clothing they had is lying nearby, and their hands are all over each other. Let's just say it involves adult situations.

I'll leave you with that thought. Nice way to start the day, hmm?

Scarlett: Cherry Cordials

I love candy...especially chocolate.

As anyone who has read my previous erotica can testify, candy has always been a favorite prop of mine. James can tell you all about a story I wrote a while back involoving butterscotch. As I recall, he was quite fond of that story.

One of my favorite candies is the cherry cordiial--but not just any cherry cordial. I love the Cella cordial--instead of the thick, sugary centers enveloping the cherry, a Cella has a sweet liquid center. It's perfect for certain intimate moments. Take a small bite into the chocolate and let the liquid dribble ever so slowly over the flesh...then lick it off.

Exquisite!

And to top it off, try taking the cherry into your mouth, kiss your lover, and pass the cherry from your mouth to his/hers.

Mmmmmmm....

This is something Chloe and Gabriel will try at some point in the story. Be sure you don't miss it!

James: Getting Under The Covers

Well, since my esteemed partner has already introduced us, in effect, I'll add my own remarks. Yes, as Scarlett says, I'm an oral sort of person, and she should know. Mind you, so is she. And there's this thing she does with her tongue that can make me melt.

But I digress. We're setting out on this very fun, very sensual project together, and the things we get to talking about... well, let's just say, we're both getting overheated.

Stick around with us. We'll keep you updated on the games we're playing with our characters (taking them to bed just seems a bit odd, but we might be called odd), and we might even post passages. Just make sure you're not in the company of children. Some of this gets pretty steamy, you know...

Scarlett: Getting The Balls Rolling

I suppose since my partner is unavailable at the moment, I should get things started with our joint blog. Check in regularly and you'll not only get details on our literary collaborations, you just might get us to confess to some of our research secrets!

For example...I can tell you that James is verrrrry good with his mouth, if you know what I mean. He can be quite charming, sweet and romantic and all, but when that man uses his tongue, ohhhhhh...there's no resisting him!

This can be both a blessing and a curse. Chasing away all the tramps chasing him can be exhausting. Take Nixie, for example. That one just never gives up. She throws herself at him shamelessly! You'll probably see her posting comments here, undoubtedly persisting in her pursuit of my man.

Any suggestions on how I should deal with her?
